Italy Visa
If you plan to travel to Italy, you will need a Schengen visa, as Italy is part of the Schengen area. The specific type of visa required depends on the purpose of your visit. For instance, a Schengen tourist visa permits stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period in Italy or any other Schengen member country.
Documents Required To Get A Visa For Italy
- Passport (valid for at least 3 months after the planned stay, with at least 2 blank pages)
- One passport sized photography (ICAO specifications, 3.5cm x 4.5cm, taken within the last 6 months)
- Visa application form completed
- Confirmed reservation of round-trip airline tickets
- Detailed itinerary in English or Italian
- Proof of accommodation
- Employed: employment proof. Business owner: business registration from Dept of Business Development / Ministry of Commerce
- Student: original letter in English from school
- Sponsor: signed sponsorship letter, copy of sponsor's ID, proof of family relationship (birth certificate, house registration, or marriage certificate with English translation), sponsor's bank statement, proof of employment
- Name change: original and copy of certificate (in English)
- Non-Thai nationals: re-entry stamps and work permit (original + copy)
- Two copies of passport + one copy of Schengen/UK/USA/Canada visas from last 5 years
- Travel and health insurance (€30,000 minimum, valid for the whole Schengen area)
- Cover letter (1 page max, signed, English or Italian)
- Minors: birth certificate (translated), consent letter from non-traveling parent(s), proof of sole custody or death certificate (with English translations)
Processing Time
The usual processing time is between 4 days and 15 days for tourism purposes (visiting family, tourist visits etc). However, it can happen that the processing time can take up to 45 days, for example during high season.
Visa Fees
The visa fee shall be waived if the applicant belongs to a specific category. For example, the spouse of an Italian citizen will have their visa fee waived.
